Governance and Student Visas

GOVERNANCE

All ABSI member schools are accredited and registered under the National Code to accept international students and governed under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000.

The Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) sets out the legal framework governing delivery of education to international students in Australia on a student visa.

National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students
The National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students (the National Code) provides nationally consistent standards for the conduct of registered providers and the registration of their courses.

The standards set out requirements and procedures to ensure providers of education and training courses to international students can clearly understand and comply with their obligations under the National Code.

The National Code standards govern the protection of international students and delivery of courses to those students by providers registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Only CRICOS courses can be offered to international students studying in Australia on a student visa.

Once you are accepted to one of the ABSI schools and have had your enrolment confirmed by the School you will be able to apply for a student visa.
